  PRC-77

is a solid state VHF transceiver for short distances, following PRC-25.
It can be used as manpack, portable and vehicular radio. All accessories of PRC-25 are compatible to PRC-77.

It is still in use in the following countries:

  • The Norwegian army is the only army still using the AN/PRC-77 as a main source of radio communication.
  • The Austrian Army still uses the PRC-66 for training cadets in radio communications.
  • The Swedish Defence force uses the radio system.
  • The Pakistan Army has also used the set for the past 25+ years.
  • The Finnish Army uses this radio as a "battalion radio".

Instead of the original short antenna AT-892 and the long antenna
AT-271 ; a single combi antenna can be used:
    AS-2109

The Swiss Army used the PRC-77 and called it SE-227
The Museum hosts two Swiss prototype voice scramblers for SE-227:

"Gretacoder 210". Click Pic for description.
