  Karat

is a Russian transceiver for the use in the national econony. Besides other usages it is used searching for oil, or underground in mines.

Unusual is the frequency (160m) and the Mode (USB).

The aluminium housing is water- and dust- protected.

It comes as a portable radio (Karat-2-N) with built-in power supply, and as a fixed station (Karat-N) for operation under open sky or in mines.

Range can be up to 30 km, if there is no interference by industry, power lines etc.
