is a fully transistorized backpack. It is the portable variant of SEM-25; many modules are the same in both of them.
In the German BW it replaced the former radios PRC-8, PRC-9 and PRC-10.
The former PRC-x - radios together had a frequency range of 20 to 55 MHz; the SEM-35 has 26 to 70 MHz; this not yet the frequency range for the Tactical band today: 30 to 76 MHz.
Main disadvantages for the SEM 35, compared to the PRC-77 are said to be: the heavy weight, and the power consumption could be less. The usage of everyday A- batteries (SEM 35) , compared to special batteries (PRC-77), however, compensates part of this drawback.

together with the Supplement 5 (Rucksack, long and short antenna, handset, additional battery box)
Connected to the vehicle's cables, it can be used as substitute of a SEM-25. In this case it is powered by the vehicle's battery.
The battery box stays connected, so the SEM-35 can be easily removed from the mounting and used as backpack.
The mounting also operates the ATU (AGAT):
Two radios can operate as rebroadcasting station. Together with the rebroadcasting set it can consist of:
* two radios SEM 35
* one SEM 35 and one SEM 25
* one SEM 35 and one PRC-8 ... 10.
